Boy Meets World's Trina McGee Shares She Experienced a Miscarriage
View Date:2024-12-23 18:23:05
Trina McGee is sharing a heartbreaking update about her pregnancy.
Three months after announcing that she was expecting her first child with husband Marcello Thedford at age 54, the former Boy Meets World star shared that she suffered a miscarriage.
"I did lose the baby," McGee told Tamron Hall on the Sept. 23 episode of The Tamron Hall Show. "It wasn’t expected; it was closer to the end of the first trimester. We really don’t have any real reasons why."
The 55-year-old added, "I was still so grateful to have the experience of being able to conceive at this age and at this time."
McGee—who is also mom to kids Ramia, 31, and Langston, 29, and Ezra, 25—opened up about the difficult time she had after learning she'd lost the baby.
"A lot of depression after," she explained. "It was just kind of hard to get out of bed. There are so many things that come when you really want a family and you want your family to be complete. There are so many dreams that you have. It was very hard to face the fact that that's not going to happen."
She went on to say that there have been "so many women that have come to reach out" to her since announcing her pregnancy on June 3, "of course not knowing this end of it."
While she noted that she did announce her pregnancy fairly early, she was thrilled to be a beacon of hope for women who might think their chances at conceiving are behind them.
"There were so many women who, even at 55 and older, still want to get pregnant or don’t want to be boxed into this ‘geriatric pregnancy’ thing,” McGee explained to Hall. “I don’t know if I’m here to give advice for everybody, because everybody’s body is different, and you should listen to your doctors.”
The actress was hesitant about wanting to try for another child, instead perhaps opting to leave it to destiny.
"Part of me doesn’t ever want to go through this again,” McGee said. “The conclusion I came to is, we’ll just keep loving each other, if something happens that way, fine, but I don’t want to put another anxiety on myself. Sometimes it really is better to let go and let God."
