The Chicks postpone multiple concerts due to illness, promise 'a show you all deserve'
View Date:2024-12-24 00:32:46
The Chicks are rescheduling some of their concerts due to an unspecified illness, according a social media post the group shared Friday.
“We have made the difficult decision to also reschedule our shows in Knoxville and Greensboro due to illness,” reads The Chicks' Instagram post. “We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but our priority is to put on a show you all deserve."
This comes on the heels of the country music group announcing Thursday they must "regretfully postpone" their Nashville show that day. The trio also shared the new dates for the shows: Aug. 8 in Greensboro, North Carolina; Sept. 21 in Knoxville, Tennessee and Sept. 23 in Nashville.
Canadian folk band Wild Rivers will still serve as the supporting act for those dates, and previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new shows.
According to The Chicks' website, the Grammy-winning trio — Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer — are scheduled to head to Columbia, Maryland next on Aug. 2. Their performance at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, at the end of September will wrap The Chicks' time in North America; they will head down under to Australia in October.

In June 2020, the band formerly known as the Dixie Chicks rebranded themselves because of the name's affiliation with the Civil War-era South in an effort "to meet this moment."
That month, they released a new song, "March March," whose video included historical and contemporary protest footage, including the Black Lives Matter movement. The following month, they released their eighth studio album — their first in 14 years — "Gaslighter."
