Nicki Minaj's husband Kenneth Petty placed on house arrest after threatening Offset in video

Kenneth Petty, husband of rap star Nicki Minaj, has been placed on house arrest after threatening Migos rapper Offset in a recent video.
Footage of Petty and friends threatening Offset began circulating on social media last week with a pair of clips. In the video, the group appears to be standing outside a building Offset was staying at.
"Offset, where you at?" Petty says in one clip, according to video obtained by the X account MrPopOfficial. A friend later adds, "Plan that vacation, (you’re) going to be planning your funeral."
In a petition filed Wednesday in the Central District of California U.S. District Court, a probation officer requested Petty to participate in a home detention program for a period of up to 120 days as a result of his threat toward Offset in the video. The program may include "electronic monitoring, GPS, Alcohol Monitoring Unit or automated identification system."
"Mr. Petty was recorded on video making threatening remarks towards a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record," the petition read. "Placement in the Location Monitoring Program will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities, limit his movements, provide a sanction for his non-compliance, and hopefully encourage him to reflect upon and reevaluate his current status in the community."
USA TODAY has reached out to Petty's attorneys for comment.
Petty was previously sentenced to probation and house arrest for failing to register as a sex offender in July 2022. He was ordered to pay a $55,000 fine, in addition to spending three years on probation and a year in home detention, according to reports from NBC and CBS Los Angeles at the time.
"We appreciate and respect the court's decision granting the defense request for probation and home confinement," Petty's attorneys Michael Goldstein and Hagop Kuyumjian said in a statement to USA TODAY following the sentence.

Petty moved to Los Angeles in July 2019 before tying the knot with Minaj in October later that year, but according to court documents, he knowingly failed to register as a sex offender as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
Petty turned himself in to federal custody in March 2020 after not registering his sex offender status in California, the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed to USA TODAY at the time. He subsequently pleaded guilty in 2021, per NBC and CBS.
Offset's wife, rapper Cardi B, had a highly-publicized hip-hop rivalry with Minaj after Cardi gained mainstream success with her 2018 debut album "Invasion of Privacy."
The rivalry culminated in a fight between the rappers at a New York Fashion Week party in September 2018 that left Cardi B injured. Video circulating on social media showed the "Bongos" emcee lunging toward someone and being held back at Harper's Bazaar Icons party. Cardi also reportedly threw one of her shoes at Minaj.
